Less taxing than PerfMon? Most monitoring tools use perf. counters, so they
are even more "taxing" vs PerfMon.
If monitoring is only limited to port availability scanning, you will
consume fewer resources. Most everything else on Windows will be grounded on
performance counters including WMI and SNMP.
This is my biased opinion.
