No, as much of a fan of Softricity as I am, it would not solve this problem. For some reason, accountants write really bad software! A different program I had a hand in creating does handle this app, however. (Hint: triCerat distributes it now). I might be inclined to look into Softricity in this case which can still be used in your Citrix environment. -----Original Message----- From: thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx]On Behalf Of Ron Jameson Sent: Tuesday, July 27, 2004 11:16 PM To: thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [THIN] Tarantella anyone? Well - my plight against the accounting program that after 8-10 users on a win2k3 server will peg the CPU is almost in the dirt. I have the CPU throttle going to slap it down but I just cannot get a whole lot of users when they run this program. I am not alone as I find others using Creative Solutions Accounting in the accountant field has similar problems. Tech support answer? - logout/in again. Grrr...Not good enough. Having them fix their code it next to impossible....an accounting firm with the same problem experimented and went back to Win2000 TS with better results. Hmmmm.... So I sit here at the table looking for solutions. Throwing 2 more CPU's at a cost of $5k will not cut it for I don't think it will still be able to handle it. At $7k, I can get a PE2650 by dell and start down the road of LB and start growing the farm. Now - my question to the thin community....does anyone have luck with Tarantella and how it compares to Citrix? I am waiting for costs on Tarantella but I also think Citrix is overkill for 50 users just to get published apps and load balancing (i.e. designate which user or app goes to what server). I am not even at accounting season so this is only going to get worse. Thanks for the input.
