hmmmm...Alright let me make sure I am clear about this patch. When I went to the web site I see a patch but it is ONLY for windows 2003 and windows XP sp2 machines. Is there one out there for Windows 2000? I believe I have this issue in Windows 2000. Thanks, Mark Holley >>> joe.shonk@xxxxxxxxx 11/07/05 10:58 AM >>> Just the server patch... Unless you have GPO going to your WinXP SP2 workstation and its local login is slow too. Although, looking at your userenv log it looks slightly different. This patch is still worth a try though as symptoms are exactly the same. Ask MS for patch for KB899409. If they say it doesn't exist, say it does. If they say what makes you think that, point them to this website (http://www.brianmadden.com/forum/tm.asp?m=18206&mpage=1&key=䜞) They will then put you through to a technician who will give you the patch. Incidentally, Shane, if you are working with a new guy called Warrick, tell him Doug says hi :) Doug. -----Original Message----- From: thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Walter, Chris Sent: 04 November 2005 21:47 To: 'thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx' Subject: [THIN] Re: Slow Logon - Applying Personal Settings Have you noticed any CPU spikes during the login. Hi had a similar problem on Win2k3 with the Applying Your personal Settings but it was because I had installed a Citrix patch that made my CPU go to 80% because of the SVCHost process. The SVCHost process was running the Terminal Services service. After I removed the patch everything went back to normal. Something else you can try is increasing the Maxcmds on your Terminal server. Do you get the same thing if you log on with a local account? All other aspects of logon is nice and fast. Problem is occurring for all user accounts. Problem is reproduceable with or without roaming profile - actual load of settings is quick - just hangs at applying - userenv debug file contents are below - has anyone come across this in their travels ?? There are no AD GPOs being applied - only old NT4 domain policy which has not changed for a couple of years. The delay that I am seeing seems to coincide with the time difference in the last 2 entries: USERENV(1204.1abc) 11:01:36:512 ApplyGroupPolicy: Background refresh not requested. Leaving successfully.
