John,

This is great... Thanks for putting in the extra time to make it useable
for
scripts & command line commandos like me!

Brian,

Well, I sat down at my development pc and looked at the code and decided
that re-coding to a command-line version wouldn't be too tough, so I did
it.
The different types of deletion are segregated (the switches are =
-A=3Dall,
-T=3Dtemporary internet files, -H=3Dhistory, -I=3DAddress bar history =
(MRU
list),
-N=3DCookies, -?=3Dhelp). I debugged and tested it last night and this
morning
and zipped the final release for this version. I have sent it to those
who
have requested and I'm sending a copy to Jim for thethin.net repository.

If anyone has problems or questions about it, please contact me off-list
and
I'll get it taken care of.

Hope it helps.

-John

Great. I would be very interested in the command line version. Maybe
you
can create an option that excludes the cookies?

Thanks.

A while back, I created an application that I initially intended on
putting
up for sale however I have not finished it yet and it's been a while, so
I'm
going to put it out there as freeware/begware. It is an application
similar
to what you are referring to -- it will remove all traces of IE history,
cookies, temporary internet files, and the MRU cache from the address
bar
from the system when activated. I was just re-vamping it to make it a
command-line app with switches to trigger the different deletions and
haven't spent more than 3 hours on it in the past 2 months. If you want
cookies left in, I can recompile it and leave the cookies alone...that
would
take 2 minutes ;-)

If anyone would like the app in its current form - no setup application
and
you need to hard-code a registry setting to set it to automatically run
and
clear the settings upon execution (Otherwise it prompts the user whether
or
not to clear it) - just let me know and I'll mail it. It does work
well, I
just got sidetracked looking for work and never got back to it. I will
be
finishing it soon to the command-line version which will work better for
using it in a script, but this executable does work well now. I have a
few
folks out there who are using it (Jim K, I think????).

Subject: [THIN] Script and Temp Internet Files Question

Content-Type: text/plain

(Finishing up on my reboot script...attached for review) (*Thanks for
everyone's help thus far) I asked a question earlier about Temporary
Files
and was refered to the Faq. However, I didn't really see anything that
addresses my desire.

I've created a reboot script (attached as txt) and would like to remove
all
the Temporary Internet Files from the system (except cookies) before
defrag
and reboot.

I would like to incorporate something into this script that deletes all
the
*htm, *css, *gif, *jpeg, *vbs, etc.... From the Temporary Internet Files
for
each users local profile...leaving cookie (*.txt) files. Any
suggestions?

This article I'm allready addressing in the script.
How do I delete Temporary Files on Exit in Windows 2000 Terminal
Services?
<http://thethin.net/faqs2.cfm?id=3D324&category=3D1&sortby=3Dscore>

This article recommendation does not appear to work. Temp Internet
files
are still written: How do I keep Temporary Internet Files from being
saved
in the Users Profile?
<http://thethin.net/faqs2.cfm?id=3D217&category=3D1&sortby=3Dscore>

This article requires too much admnistration by creating several hundred
folders on users home directories and modifying HKCU. How can I keep
Temporary Internet Files, favorites, and History out of a user profile
using
the registry?=20
