You could look into some other remote control software for your 2000 server.
From VNC to GoToMyPC.

Subject: [THIN] RDP and server 2000
Hi,
I am trying to do RDP from my client to a windows 2000 advance server based
system (SP4) but always getting color depth at 265 bit. I know that by
default server 2000 will give me 8 bit only. Is there some way to get higher
color depth (16 bit atleast).
My Limitations:
1. I can't upgrade to server 2003 as the software which is supposed to be
executed on server is compatible with 2000 only.
2. Citrix ICA is a solution but not interested in going to that as it will
be a costly affair.
Thanks
