Hi,

I called it by the wrong name (Installshield) in my orginal post.

"PS Installshield have a new version that is designed to create Citrix packages
but it is very very pricey"

Have you looked at adminstudio - similar to wise but can also do the
streamed component.

Subject: [THIN] Profiling applications and streaming to server questions

        Hello there,

I'm used to using the Wise package Studio to re package applications
(this is not an advert for Wise Package studio btw)

One of the benefits of Wise / installshield (when repackaging
applications) etc etc is the ability to exclude folders, files and registry
entries so that are not captured when repackaging.

You can also see and review what changes have been made after capturing
an installation installation. This really helps to ensure a nice clean package.

I've been looking at the streaming profiler and profiled quite a few
applications but not quite happy with the results.

Unless I have missed something in the profiler, I don't see any options
to exclude specific files and folders from being captured .

Inspecting the results after profiling an application reveals the
amount of "extra" unwanted files.

It is taking me two to three times longer to profile an application
compared to repackaging with Wise.

It took me a while to realise that once you have finished profiling,
you have to keep going back to the basic/ advanced options to make further
changes to the package.

Have I missed something ? Is there an additional tool to help ? What do
others thing about profiling ?

Also, my Citrix servers have two drive letters (OS and Apps) and the
Citrix streaming documentation advises not to stream to any drive apart from
the systemdrive or where the radecache folder location is located.

Is anyone streaming to servers with more than one drive letter ?

        Thanks for your time.

        Matt

PS Installshield have a new version that is designed to create Citrix
packages but it is very very pricey
