Redirect My Documents to a LAN drive.
Using Policies stop all unnecessary data from being Roamed. Here is an
example:
ExclusionList=Local Settings;Temporary Internet Files;History;Temp;Local
Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook;My
Documents;PrintHood;Templates;Application
Data\ICAClient\cache;Windows\System;Windows\Fonts;Windows\inf;Windows\help;W
indows\Web;Application Data\Microsoft\HTML Help;Application
Data\Microsoft\Media Catalog
You can write a simple batch file to run at regular intervals to delete
redundant data from the profiles. Pick and choose what is not needed and
delete it. Use the tool delen.exe to delete cookies, recently used
shortcuts, auto-saved or backup word files etc., older than 90 days or what
ever time frame is suitable. Run cprofile.exe to clean up the users
NTUSER.dat .
Windows 2000 logon and off is painfully slow with Roaming profiles. In
additions to the above we have a profile limit of 10MB to ensure uses do not
save data to their desktop or else where in their profile. It didn't take
long for them to learn to keep their profiles clean and trim.

they don't happen to have some offline outlook file there, do they?
Can you see where the space is going, which directories?

I have the temporary internet files not being copied over and the profiles
being deleted locally when they logoff.
Any other suggestions?

Its probably due to temporary internet files. Fix policies so that they are
not copied to the roaming profile and so that they are deleted on logoff.
This fixed our problem.

Subject: [THIN] Profile Size
Lately,
I have noticed that the logoff time for the users have increased due to
there profile size. Is there a piece of software that we can use to clean
terminal server profiles at night?
Also, how can I restrict the ntuser.dat file. This file seem to grow larger
each day. I know I can limit there profile directory with a policy but what
about the file itself. I don't want the user receiving an error stating
there profile is too large.
Thanks for your help in advance.
