Is this Windows 2000 SP4?
(If so, there have been some issues like this depending on how Sp4 was
applied)

Subject: [THIN] Problem install going from XPe to Pres Server 3, any advice
??
Hi All,
I was contacted by a reseller today to go out and from what I was advised
install some software for 10 client licences, nice easy 15 minute job, well
so I thought.
When the client turned up he pulled out a Presentation Server 3, 99 day 90
user trial pack. His server had an expired copy of Metaframe XPe, 99 day 90
user already installed. This task was not quite as simple as I was lead to
beleive, though attainable.
I uninstalled XPe, and proceeded to install Pres Server 3, there was an
error message as part of the install that IMAmfRPC_client.dll could not be
installed. All other functions of the Citrix server were working.
So we had a working server that no one could connect to. The IMA service
was not responding so I also beleive that there were some residual issues
left from the previous install. I had a quick look on the net and found out
that it is common for some .dll files to be left behind after an uninstall,
these could not be removed as they were in use and the IMA service failed to
stop. I had to remove Pres Server 3, and then run into issues where it
wanted to use the ctxgina.dll for logging on where it no longer existed,
this was relatively easy to fix as I have come across this problem before.
I deleted all entries from the registry key, hklocal machine, software,
citrix. I also deleted all citrix entries under the program files and did a
search for any IMA*.dll files on the root drive of the system.
Further attempts to re-install have been failing due to the install routine
finding that there is something somewhere that indicates that presentation
server 3 is installed, it offers to do an upgrade of a metaframe install
from a previous version which is no longer there. The only other option is
to say no dont install but cancell the install.
Any tips, hints or thoughts on what file may not have been deleted, or what
the issue may be would be greatly apprecaited.
Thanks in advance
