Thanks. I'm considering using the UPD for all autocreated printers but the
odd thing is that we haven't had the issue before then suddenly it appears
with no farm changes done. Very odd.

We have been plagued with this issue on and off since 1.8. We are
running 4.0 on Windows 2003 and we made it go away by not using the
universal print driver and mapping print drivers. It NEVER happens on a
mapped print driver but occasionally happens for the universal print
driver.

Subject: [THIN] Printers go offline on PS4

My PS4 farm has recently started setting printers offline. I'd
previously
reported and tracked down a similar problem where printers were going
offline on my HP T5520 terminals but this is a different one. The HP
problem
came down to a problem with the most recent firmware. This one is
happening
to PCs running the 9.150 client. Symptoms are that autocreated print
queues
seem to randomly go offline and queue jobs. The only way to clear them
is to
have the user log off. Rebooting the server chases the problem away for
a
while.

It sounds just like CTX106746, I hear you all cry in unison and indeed
you'd
be correct. However, the hotfix to fix that one (incorporated in the
hotfix
rollup) was applied to all servers a while ago. This is a recent problem
that has only appeared in the last few weeks, while I was on holiday. My
staff all swear they haven't modified any servers.

I can see nothing that looks relevant in any event logs.

So, has anyone else nailed this one?
Angus
