Wyse Technology Increases Terminal Server Performance up to 40 Percent with
New Wyse Expedian Software
http://www.wyse.com/about/pr/2003/0120_WyseExpedian.htm
Software Solution Supports Wyse's Strategy to Move Beyond Desktop Thin
Clients; Wyse Expedian Significantly Increases User Capacity and Application
Performance

SAN JOSE, Calif., (1/21/03) -- Wyse Technology, the domain experts in
server-centric computing (SCC), today introduced Wyse Expedian?, a
performance and scalability enhancement software package for Microsoft
Terminal Servers. Wyse Expedian software is part of a portfolio of products
and services from Wyse that move the company beyond the desktop thin client
market. Microsoft Terminal Servers typically run applications 30 to 40
percent faster when they are optimized by Wyse Expedian software. This
benefit can be realized as a faster user experience, or it can be used to
support more users on each server and reduce the total number of servers
needed to provide employees with instant access to server-based information.
As a result, enterprises can very easily reduce their hardware and software
cost by tens of thousands of dollars.

"Customers continue to search for immediate, cost-effective ways to increase
IT performance and the quality of their computing environment," said David
Rand, director of corporate marketing at Wyse Technology. "Through our
market leadership and solid product offerings, we help enterprises increase
manageability and reduce costs, which is key in today's tight economy. We
will continue to deliver products like Wyse Expedian software as the needs
of our customers evolve."

Wyse Expedian software is ideal for enterprises adding users and
applications to their server-centric environment or for enterprises looking
to free up servers for other projects. This solution frees enough resources
on the server so that a typical terminal server can support 30 to 40 percent
more users. The software analyzes how components of applications conflict
with each other in memory and then automatically and continuously manages
the system to ensure optimal performance. Additionally, a control and
reporting interface makes the software simple for IT staff to administer.

"Server-based software solutions are a critical part of any enterprise thin
client deployment," said Bob O'Donnell, research director of device
technology at analyst firm IDC. "To really leverage the ROI benefits of thin
clients, companies need to maximize the efficiency of the servers supporting
those devices."

"Although IT spending in general is still depressed, there are segments,
especially those offering same-quarter ROI, that are doing well," said Jim
Kenzig, network manager at Cuyahoga County Public Library, one of the
nation's 10 busiest library systems. "Wyse Expedian generates results so
rapidly that it is very easy to cost-justify even when IT budgets are being
cut. I have personally seen the benefits of this software and it really does
what it claims to do and pays for itself in a very short time."

Pricing and Availability

Wyse Expedian, which runs on all Windows 2000 and Windows NT Terminal
Servers running Terminal Services and Citrix MetaFrame, is available from
Wyse at an estimated customer price that ranges from $999 to $2999,
depending on the number of processors in the server. For availability
information please call 1-800-GET-WYSE.
