So it sounds like the same users from the same remote sites are able to successfully connect to a few of the servers, but just not some of them. This should eliminate any remote network connectivity issues since they are able to successfully traverse the LAN/WAN into the farm to at least one server. Are the servers built from a common image? Are they being accessed from the outside? Do you use the "altaddr" setting in your farm? Can you make a direct connection internally with one of the user's accounts into one of the problem servers? (i.e. right-click server object "Launch ICA Session", etc.) One thing you might consider is if the servers are built from a common sysprepped image that was deployed to the rest...there are a number of items you have to check when the server is deployed to ensure they are truly unique within the farm and don't have any residual references to the original server name that the image was built from. This can sometimes cause one or more servers to not function properly in my experience. ________________________________ From: thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Cathy Campbell Sent: Friday, October 27, 2006 11:16 AM To: thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [THIN] Odd problem Our farm is MPS 4.0 and all servers in the farm are Windows Server 2003 w/ all the current Windows critical updates and patches. We are experiencing a strange problem, a couple of the servers in the farm will not allow some users to connect to any of the published applications or published desktop on them. After they log in and try to kickoff any application or desktop, dialog boxes display stating "Preparing to connect", "Connection in progress", "Connection established...Negotiating capabilities", then nothing happens. I've check the event logs in the servers experiencing the problem, and do not see any information related to the issue. It only seems to be happening to certain remote users workstations. It does not seem to matter if the remote workstation is Windows 2000 or XP (up to date with Windows critical updates). Fortunately I have one server in the farm that allows those users to connect so, when they log in and open a published app/desktop, they are always directed to that particular server. Has anyone seen this problem before? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Cathy
