[THIN] Re: OT:Anyone using IM or Chat in Exchange?

I have just setup the Instant Messaging service for a client of ours
that is running Exchange 2000 (not the Enterprise version). If you want
to have the "Forums" or "Chat" rooms, then you need to purchase the
add-on Exchange 2000 Conferencing Server. Instant Messaging comes with
both Exchange 2000 versions (Standard and Enterprise).

I would follow KB Article 266643, as that goes trough how to setup
Instant Messaging.

If the option is greyed out, then you most likely are trying to install
it off of the SP CD or installation. Are you sure that you are using
the RTM disk for Exchange 2000?

Chris

I am using this. It works pretty well. We don't use it for everyone on
= the terminal servers but for those who do use it, there have been no =
issues.

take a look at: Q266643,Q319758,Q264472

I noticed in Exchange manual that they have an Instant Messaging option
= and a Chat option but when I try to install this, it does not allow me
= because both are greyed out. Anyone using this? Is this a thing I
have to buy separately?

Thanks
Vince
