[THIN] Re: OT: Sorta...Idea....Consultants Consortium

This is a cool idea - kind of a bizrate marries ebay
feedback. I'm keen to the idea, but I think to ensure
that the feedback is accurate and fair that all
feedback should be included - good or bad. The
difficult part would be ensuring that *only*
legitimate customers were able to leave feedback, and
that *all* legitimate customers are able to leave
feedback. This would be tough to do unless you, Jim
Kenzig, wanted to add a another business line and
handle billing/payments for the consultants listed.
Kind of a bizrate marries ebay feedback and swings
with paypal sort of thing.

An alternative to the feedback is to just ensure that
only "quality" consultants are listed. That, of
course, is very subjective and difficult and
time-consuming to measure, and it would open you up to
all sorts of liability.

I think, perhaps, a more plausible concept would be to
provide a matcher wizard, and the consultants must
provide references that can be contacted. Obviously,
most will only list their glowing references. But if a
small firm has lots of glowing references and a large
firm only has one or two, that should be enough
information right there. Maybe the consultant should
be required to provide some sort of proof to Jim that
the references are legitimate, such as a copies of the
invoice and payment, and/or a remote logon to verify
that it really was for citrix/tse work.

Bottom line, it will be difficult to provide a list
that's useful, accurate and reliable enough that you
are able to stave off liability.

No matter what you do, don't forget to post plenty of
disclaimers in conspicuous places.

My 10 bits...
