I think you get the shield after you put the latest version of Windows
Updates on. I think that happens after XP SP2 or 2K3 SP1. None of our
users are local admins, but I can try to poke around with it and let you
know.

Do your users that have Administrative rights get a globe type icon or a
shield that allows them to select what updates they want?

Thank you!

You need to set it in your GPO.

Computer configuration\administrative template\windows
components\windows update\configure automatic updates

We just changed over to WSUS from SUS. We now have a shield appear on
each workstation and the user (administrator on workstation) has the
option to chose what updates are applied.

With SUS we had a globe appear on each workstation and the user could
see what updates where going to be applied but not change them. Why with
the new WSUS servers does the user seem to have more options? What am I
missing here?

Thank you,
