I think you get the shield after you put the latest version of Windows Updates on. I think that happens after XP SP2 or 2K3 SP1. None of our users are local admins, but I can try to poke around with it and let you know. We now have a shield appear on each workstation and the user (administrator on workstation) has the option to chose what updates are applied. With SUS we had a globe appear on each workstation and the user could see what updates where going to be applied but not change them. Why with the new WSUS servers does the user seem to have more options? What am I missing here?
