SQL Server licensing is still done on the "honor system". I'm not sure
why you need an MS website to prove that, since simply doing an actual
SQL Server 2005 installation would demonstrate the same.

Subject: [THIN] OT - SQL licencing

HI

sorry for the off topic, but I have been searching for a Microsoft
answer to this, I need to prove that SQL server 2005 does not actually
monitor the usage of license CAL's by default.

I have found a blog
http://blogs.msdn.com/sqlblog/archive/2006/11/10/tracking-license-inform
ation-in-sql-2005.aspx stating reg modifications are required to enable
SQL server 2005 to show what licenses you have.

I'm I correct in what I am saying that when you install SQL server 2005
you do not need to provide SQL licensing information, other than make
sure that you have the relevant licenses purchased from Microsoft.

If so is there something on the Microsoft site that states this.

thanks
Ronnie
