I agree. I would rather use an External NetStorage array than the XP
Arrays. You should love the CX boxes you are getting. BTW, what fiber
switches did you get with those, and what type of servers are you going
to attach to them (along with OS and HBA)?

Thanks,

Chris

Why not look at the EMC CX200? With starting at about $45,000 or so
(maybe less), all SCSI and has redundancy, you can upgrade to 12TB
really easily. It's faster than the Shark and Compaq models, but I'm
not familiar with the FastT systems.

Hi there all,

Not really thin related, but with all the enterprise grade expertise on
the list I thought I would throw it out there.

I am building a small SAN 'on the cheap' and am looking for suggestions
on storage enclosures.

I would love to install an IBM Shark or FastT system but I'm still
waiting for that dumptruck load of cash to be delivered to the office
:) <insert joke about relative value of canadian currency here>

What I am looking for is a Fibre Channel connected enclosure with 6-8
ATA/100 or ATA/133 drives. I would also consider SCSI connected
enclosures but I don't want to fork out the big $ for 800-1000 MB of
SCSI disk.

Any suggestions? Experiences either way? Am I trying to build the
impossible?

Thanks and back to your regularly scheduled THIN list.
