[THIN] Re: OT. PC Remote Control

Remote Administrator allows you to specify the port to use. This lets
you designate a specific port for each machine you wish to connect to.
Then the FW can be configured to forward traffic on each port to
specific machines. RA also encrypts, and at $35 for two machines, is a
bargain.

I assume you want to do this "on the cheap".

I would think that you could set one of them up, but not both/all. (At
least not directly.)
Most home routers will allow one of the "LAN" devices to be set up as if
it were in a DMZ.
It passes some ports through to a specific MAC address without NATing
them.

If your PC's are XP, maybe you could use something like Tight VNC (would
have to be an
application that encrypts the traffic) to connect to one of them. You
could then use Remote
Desktop Connection to "hop" to the other(s).

Driving over there is beginning to sound pretty good, isn't it?

                OK, wayyy off topic.
I need to be able to remote contorol a couple
of PC's thru the Internet. These PC's are connected
via DSL and are behine a NetGear DSL router which is
also acting as the DHCP server. In fact, the PC that
I will be contorlling them with is likewise set up.

I have the IP address that the ISP assigned, which is
now
assigned to the DSL router. And obviously the IP
addresses
on the inside for the PC's are public addresses
(192.168.0.x)

Does anyone know of a product or method that will let me
get
to these PC's? It would be nice to do maintenance on
them
from home instead of having to drive over there.
