I used punch cards as fortress walls. Given that my mum had to book
mainframe access like a month in advance, she was *not* very happy to
see me doing my walls of Jericho bit with them the night before her
access day.

And before that - if you were lucky - maybe saving to cassette tape.

I even used punched cards in my early days with mainframes.
