I'll probably get some pricing on it, but I just have one of those
feelings it will be much more expensive then something else. My SMB
environments get a little more complicated with VMware in then and the
way things are structured. So far, none of the SMB specific product
suites I've found would actually work the way I want, but it's worth
looking into. Didn't know CommVault had something specific for SMB.

If you ar eused to using CommVault why not stick with it? It is not very
complex software.
They also offer a SMB package called Express which has reduced pricing.

Yes, Amanda is open source but there are companies out there
commercializing it. Zmanda is a decent one from what I can tell. I
have never used them but I know a guy at Raytheon who does.

Amanda is the open source product? While they sell a supported
version (support is a requirement), the server only runs on NIX, and I'm
not interested in adding NIX into the environment and the management
overhead it incurs.
Has anyone used/trialed MS Data Protecting? Pricing is very
attractive and it would cover Windows/SQL/Exchange. I could use
Vizioncore's products for the VMware side of things.

I think Microsoft's Data Protection manager look interesting. I
also think Amanda backup looks like something worth trying.

Looking for opinions on SMB backup solutions. My past 5

I have a few calls lined up to go over ARCServe and
Backup
Exec/NetBackup. Does anyone have suggestions on other
products to look
at? The environment consists of a couple physical
Windows Server boxes,
a bunch of virtual Windows Boxes running on VMware.
Something that
works with VCB would be nice. The Tape drive in use is
a LAN or FC

arrays which are
FC connected SCSI arrays (they present as LUNs to
VMware) and I am
hosting VM's on the Xserve RAIDs on those LUNs. All
actual file storage
is done inside of a Windows VM.
