[THIN] Re: OT: Applying 2003 GPO on NT4.0 Domains

Guys

Suggest you look at

For proper explanation. Nice little table too.

If you have a W2k domain then move the server from the NT 4.0 domain to the
w2k domain...

The W2k server in NT 4.0 is under does not receive policies from a domain it
is not a member of... (Group Policy loopback is a Computer Policy, not a
User policy) The only way the W2k server will enforce policies is if it's a
member of that domain... If you're using GP lookback then your user
accounts can be a member of any domain (NT 4.0 or W2k/w2k3)

But they logon on the W2K domain, so the W2K domain controller knows in
which OU the user is created and which User Policies are active for such a
user.

I'd say no, as the W2000 machine has zero knowledge of them - its
logging onto a NT4 DC, not a 2k DC which has GP files.
