[THIN] Re: OT - Alteris Remote control

Hey Ronnie,

Basically yes, but it depends on the version of Altiris you're using.

Im assuming youre using Deployment Solution (version 6.8 SP2 is the latest
build) with Vista machines the remote control option essentially launches a MS
RDP session to Vista machines (This is probably due to the huge security risk
the traditional Aclient remote control posed, where unauthenticated connections
can remote control machines). With Xp machines Remote control is done via the
Aclient.

For Terminals you can remote control them via Deployment solution provided you
have a terminal which has the Aclient installed. Traditionally HP have these
installed by default and the aclient auto installs the license on the
deployment server so you don't need to pay for the CAL for the terminals. This
is a nice feature with the HP terminals.

Hope this helps.

Subject: [THIN] OT - Alteris Remote control

Hi

Sorry for the off topic but we are getting 150 Vista PC's and we need to
be able to control remote control like out citrix users.
Looks like we are going to roll out the images with Alteris , there
looks to be a remote control option but I have never used it with the
thin clients.

Is this possible and if so can I test on a XP pc that hasent been built
with Alteris

Ie can I push an agent out or something

Thanks

Ronnie
