Ya, I had heard this was in the works.

CodeWeavers Releases CrossOver Office(tm) Server Edition 1.3.1
Solaris=AE and Linux(tm) Thin Clients Can Now Run Microsoft(tm) Office,
Internet Explorer And Other Leading Windows(tm) Applications, Using
Groundbreaking Windows-To-Linux SoftwareNew Release provides additional
features and stability to existing application set.
ST. PAUL, MN-(December 10, 2002)-CodeWeavers, Inc., a leading
Windows(tm)-to-Linux(tm) software developer, today unveiled CrossOver
Office=AE Server Edition. A major expansion of CodeWeavers' =
award-winning
CrossOver Office software, CrossOver Office Server Edition allows =
enterprise
users to operate popular Windows software-including Microsoft(tm) =
Office,
Internet Explorer, Lotus Notes(tm), and Visio(tm)-in a distributed thin
client environment for both Linux and Solaris=AE.
"CrossOver Server Edition is designed to help the corporate marketplace
bridge to Linux," said Jeremy White, CEO of CodeWeavers. "With Server
Edition we offer corporate workgroups the ability to control costs by
consolidating on a lower-cost desktop, while still running the =
applications
their users have grown accustomed to. But whereas Citrix(tm) and =
Microsoft
Terminal Server(tm) licenses typically cost hundreds of dollars per =
user, we
can provide outstanding productivity for much less. The result is cost
savings with real convenience."
Jackson State University's Michael Robinson, a recent adopter of Server
Edition, agrees. "Server Edition was exactly what we needed to maximize =
our
investment in SunRay thin client stations. With CrossOver technology, =
we get
the power and ease of thin-client computing, the convenience of letting =
our
students and faculty run their favorite Windows applications, and a =
very
affordable solution. At a time when IT budgets are really being =
squeezed,
this was a perfect way for us to get more for less."
CrossOver Office Server Edition 1.3.1 supports the same applications as
CrossOver Office 1.3.1, including core office-automation packages such =
as
Microsoft Office, Outlook(tm), and Internet Explorer. It also supports =
Lotus
Notes, and Visio 2000, Microsoft's business and technical diagramming
application. Support for additional client environments, like Windows,
HP-UX, Apple, and SGI, is planned for future releases.
Cost Effective and Hassle-Free
According to White, Server Edition is an attractive proposition for
corporate users not only for its affordability and convenience, but =
also for
its simple licensing arrangement. "With Server Edition we offer =
licensing
based primarily on concurrent server usage," White noted. "Client =
access
licenses, 'Open' vs. 'Select' licenses, 'Class-A' vs. 'Class-B' or =
'Class-C'
licenses-forget all of that. We believe system administrators have =
neither
the time nor the patience to spend time delving into these issues. With =
a
concurrent usage model we can both simplify licensing arrangements and
improve customer productivity in the bargain."
Pricing and Availability
CrossOver Office Server Edition 1.3.1 is available immediately, either
direct from CodeWeavers or its resellers. Server Edition is initially =
priced
at $1,195 for the server software, with an additional $1,185 for a 25
concurrent user license. 100 concurrent user licenses cost $4,000. No
restrictions are placed on the number of users running off of a single
server, although customers may purchase additional server licenses at =
$595
apiece. Unlimited enterprise site licenses are also available. More
information on Server Edition and the company's other Windows-to-Linux
porting solutions can also be found on CodeWeavers' website,
www.codeweavers.com, or by calling (651) 523-9300.
