Tony,

Sorry, I guess I was not clear in my messages, we use MS terminal
services.

Anyway, the problem has been resolved J An associate of one of our
consultants figured it out.

Here is what it was, or at least what he had me do.

#1) Remove ALL Zebra printer from the server console, then remove ALL
Zebra drivers.

#2) On the server, add a local printer, LPT1, Zebra TLP 2844.

#3) On the terminal (Not logged in) control panel, add a new printer.
Named TLP 2844 (there is no driver for it).

#4) Log into the terminal server, the printer is there (In session)
install the correct driver.

Tested, IT WORKED J

I am not sure if that is a correct documented procedure, but bottom
line, it works and that is what matters at this point.

Thank everyone for your input, sure glad this group is here, you all
have a great week-end.

Thank You

Doug,

I'd be interested in the output of a 'change client /view' command from
within the Citrix session.

I'd also take a look at the printing related Citrix policies that are
applying to this server and the settings on the ICA listener.

This is probably a long shot, but it could be Group Policy again...

Try just a net use and see if lpt1 is mapped to a client device

OK, please bear with me on this, I am sort of new to this stuff, or at
least that is what I tell myself.
So I ran it in a CMD window on the terminal, with error 87. so on an
outside shot I ran it on the server, error 87.

I went to the Internet and found:
net use lpt1: /d
net use lpt1: \\tsclient\lpt1 <file:///\\tsclient\lpt1>

When I run the first line it says
lpt1 was deleted successfully

But when I run line 2, I now get...
System error 85 has occurred.
The local device name is already in use.

And if I try to run line 1 again...
The network connection could not be found.

Any ideas?

You could add something like...

net use lpt1 \\client\lpt1 <file:///\\client\lpt1> :

..into the usrlogon.cmd script located in the %SystemRoot%\System32
folder on every Terminal/Citrix server.

That will take care of the redirection.

Cheers,
Jeremy.

It prints from the LPT port on the server, not on the terminal

Well, I had a thought, something about port redirection...
So I plugged another label printer directly into the server, and guess
what, my print jobs come out there !?!
I am guessing that it is just some simple flip of a switch to make that
stop. Any ideas on where one might find that switch? J

OK, so I have now completely rebuilt this server, ground up, I checked
policies, I checked connections I have banged my head diligently.
The Admin part is fine, it is just the flipping printer issue, I have
tried everything I can think of and all the suggestions, nothing, no
printing, though it seems to think it is printing fine.
But I log out of TS-3 and back into TS-2, everything works just great,
prints and everything. That tells me #1, it is not the printer, #2, it
is not the terminal.
Both servers are in an OU called Terminals, one works, one does not. The
only difference is, the old server is a P4 w/2GB RAM, the new one is
Athlon 64 w/4GB RAM.
Both are Windows server 2003 with every available update, patch and
service pack installed. I am logging in as Administrator on the console,
and it will not print to the Zebra TLP2844 printer that is connected via
parallel cable directly to the Wyse 3150SE thin client terminal running
MS WinCE 5.00.

What interface is the zebra printer using? Is it a serial one? You may
need to do something like a mode command to redirect lpt1: to com1: You
may also need to be certain that you are allowing com/lpt in the
Terminal services configuration tool rdp/ica port settings as well as in
the users profiles. Simon might have some helpful utils at

Hello all,

So I had post a few days back about my label printing issue, well
nothing resolved it, so the decision was made to totally rebuild the
server, so I am.
Well I have several issues,
#1, I log directly into the machine as Administrator, yet I only have
the choice to log out, not restart or shutdown?!?
#2, When I log in as a user, I cannot add a printer, if I add it as
Administrator, the user cannot use it properly.
These 2 are the current BIG issues.
Any thoughts?
