Right now here is what MS's stance is (and it has changed 3 times in the last 6 months) Any 2000 pro workstations will require a purchased TS cal for Windows 2003 server. Any XP pro workstations that Enterprise customers have purchased before the date that 2003 Server goes public will have a 2003 TSCAL. Any XP pro machines/licenses bought after that date will have to purchase a 2003 TS CAL. The thing about the ones bought before the gold date confuses my some. Its like it makes two classes of XP pro, but is really just a way to get more money and doesn't make sense.=20 MY GUESS. They will "finalize" their licensing and EVERYONE no matter what OS will have to purchase a per device CAL> I personally see a lot of companies going to the named user license model if MS decides to keep it as it is in RC2 Ron Oglesby Senior Technical Architect =20 RapidApp Office 312.372.7188 Mobile 312.961.2380 email roglesby@xxxxxxxxxxxx =20 -----Original Message----- From: John Price [mailto:JPrice@xxxxxxxx]=20 Sent: Friday, February 28, 2003 11:39 AM To: thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [THIN] Re: .NET and Citrix (TSCAL issue) Ron -=20 Have you seen what I posted earlier? Do you know this to be true or not? I would assume this is going to tick a lot of our customers off: Our instructor in a 2003 Server class earlier this week said that 2000, XP and beyond will not have a "free" built-in TS CAL for 2003. It does for 2000, but will not for 2003. As of right now, they don't plan to. Just the messenger....
