We've just installed the latest VirusScan (Enterprise 7.0) on our =
terminal servers (w/ePO). No problems encountered so far. =20
Some food for thought, we've recently deployed ePO and used it to deploy =
VirusScan7 to all workstations. The workstations were previously =
running NAV 7.6x Corporate. After the install many files (mostly =
adware, but some viruses) were found and cleaned that were sitting on =
the workstations for sometime running NAV. Before the removal NAV =
installations were up to date as far as virus definitions were concerned =
as well...
IMHO, every A/V product has different strengths and weaknesses. For a =
more complete A/V solution we deploy A/V software from different vendors =
at different levels throughout the enterprise (IE Internet Gateway / =
Email Scanning / Servers / Workstations). Then we can leverage the =
strengths of multiple products into a more complete solution.

Ok. I just don't trust any McAfee product, and will not recommend
using any NAI/McAfee AV "solution". Just my opinion.

Yeah, don't install EPO or McAfee on your Terminal Servers. If you are =
=3D
=3D3D =3D3D3D going to, then from what I have heard, use the latest =3D
versions. I =3D3D3D believe EPO 3.0 is still in beta, and the latest =
=3D
version of NetShield is =3D3D =3D3D3D also in beta (which is supposed to =
be =3D
certified to work with Terminal =3D3D =3D3D3D Server/MetaFrame).
I have always recommended either Trend Micro or Symantec. McAfee (or =
=3D
=3D3D =3D3D3D
Mcrappy) slows down your servers on average of 15-35%, from what I have =
=3D
=3D3D =3D3D3D seen and tested.

Subject: [THIN] McAfee EPO Agent
Has anyone had any expereince with McAffe EPO Agent v2.5? It was loaded =
=3D
=3D3D =3D3D3D to our NT4 Citrix servers, and has broken load balancing =
on =3D
some of =3D3D3D them. In a farm of 8 servers, 3 will not take any load =
=3D
balanced =3D3D3D connections. Once someone connects directly to one of =
=3D
the affected =3D3D3D servers, LB starts working. Tracing on the =
ICABrowser =3D
service shows the =3D3D =3D3D3D LB level set at 9999 (no license
installed) until some connects directly.
We have moved the Citrix XML service to port 81, since EPO uses 80 and =
=3D
=3D3D =3D3D3D 8081, to no avail. The problems arose once EPO was =
installed, =3D
and not =3D3D =3D3D3D prior.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance,
tw
