[THIN] Re: Mapping Drives to Specific Users..

Ignoring the best practices of whether you should do this, there are
ways of technically achieving the grouping of such things.

(assuming you're running Active Directory...) computers / PCs as objects
are containers in AD. You could publish the appropriate share (even as a
hidden share - ie so not necessarily browseable) within the computers
object (ie container) within AD. Then all you'd need is to associate the
user object that's being logged in as, with the computer object you
wanna map to. And in lieu of any other mapping or attribute, say for
example you're not using the notes field, or one of the blank custom
attributes (presumably currently unassigned).

So store the appropriate PC object name in some unused user attribute
for the user. Have a login script open the computer object, and if such
a PC is specified, open the PC container, grab the share name(s) and map
'em.

As I said, ignoring the ideals of what should be stored where, data-wise
for a second - if you want to logically group resources, and you're
using AD, then that's your repository there and then - you've just got
to leverage it.
