Malcolm, Like below, we also had a similar situation. We have an application that requires MAPI connections, and while Outlook 2000 is installed on the servers, no one uses it. Additionally, we delete profiles nightly (no roaming), so creating an outlook profile is temporary at best.=20 I found a commandline utility called createprf at http://www.mailsoftware.co.uk/downloads.html, and created a batch script that first executes the utility with the user's login, then launches the application. No idea if it works with 2002/2003, but it's free, and easy to use on-the-fly. Malcolm, We had this EXACT SAME PROBLEM and I ran into the same issues you did! Let me tell you what we did: We use ScriptLogic here, and it has the ability to create MAPI profiles, but as you said one still had to process them with Outlook 2003 before the profile was usable. (You can also use the Office 2003 Resource Kit to create profiles but that looked like more work than ScriptLogic in our case.) There are a couple of other pretty cheap Outlook 2003 profile generators, but they all suffer from the "double-click me to use me" problem. Like you, the problem we ran into was how to process those profiles via Outlook without inconveniencing the users. Back in 2000 days, newprof would do that for us. Although we ran across one product which would do that for Outlook 2003 (Profile Generator from Autoprof [www.autoprof.com]) it would have cost us about $50 per user for that solution. Autoprof did, however, remove the need to run Outlook to process the MAPI profile. What we ended up doing involved a Citrix login script. The script tested to see if there was a .prf file for the user that ScriptLogic had made; if so, we started Outlook 2003 with the /importprf switch to force Outlook to import the PRF file we had made with Scriptlogic. We also used the /autorun and /altvba switches to tell Outlook to execute a macro which told Outlook to close itself as soon as the profile was imported. Basically, it was a VBA "suicide" script. It's slightly ugly, but it works.=3D20 Hope this helps! ******************************************************** This week's sponsor - Emergent Online Emergent delivers end-to-end solutions for private and public sector clients.
