[THIN] Re: MAC printing and Citrix seems to suck the big one

Thanks Bray
Following your instructions has done the trick for MAC OS 9 printing.

Have you been successful using anything other than the "generic postscript
printer"?
Are there any limitations or issues printing with the "generic postscript
printer".

Make sure you are on the latest 6.20 ica client thats available. Are you
launching via the Web Interface or ICA file? I've had problems with
settings inside the ICA files interfering with printer autocreation for OS9
macs.

Also make sure the user you are testing with is allowed to autocreate
printers. (The OS9 Autocreated Printers have nothing to do with the UPD,
its mechanism is entirely separate.) There are a ton of places that can
prevent printer autocreation. TS tab in ADUC, Listener Config on each TS,
Citrix Policies, and can be overriden in ICA files.

Here is my setup document that I give to the other techs.

Let me know where your screens start to differ.

Bray

The postscript driver is not showing up to choose in ICA client editor
default settings after setting it as default printer with chooser?

We use the Universal print driver. The key is to know that the Native Mac
OS9 client does not automatically present a printer to the citrix server so
that they will get an autocreated UPD. Use chooser to make sure you have a
printer on the desktop, then you have to have the user go into the ICA
client editor, deafult settings, and select the postscript printer.

The latest OSX client and the Java Client will present any local printers
just like the Win32 client and a UPD will be created for them.

Any ideas\tips \suggestions for dealing with Metaframe XP FR3 and MAC OS 9
and 10 printing. More and more MAC users at the company are starting to use
Citrix and will need to print. Because the print drivers for MAC and Windows
OS are different the majority of printing would I assume have to be handled
by the Universal print driver - seems most are mapping to the HP LaserJet II
which I believe is UDP 1 or 2. Is there any hope here? How does ThinPrint
work with MAC OS? Any experiences people have had with MAC OS & Citrix
appreciated. Thanks
