Note these registry settings could be either per user or per machine settings.  
I've done it before on my server so I know it works. Just because you set it 
back under the HKLM key doesn't mean that it is set back that way in the users 
profile.

the disconnect option, they do not actually put the disconnect option on the 
Start Menu when you "undo" the settings.
 
This might make you Gilligan!

Why would you want to enable Remove Disconnect item from the Start menu?
    To encourage users to log off instead of disconnecting. 
Where do you enable Remove Disconnect?
    Start, Programs, Administrative Tools, System Policy Editor

No. It's like the Gilligan's Island episode where the crew thinks that a map 
that has washed up onto shore gives directions on how to get off the island. 
After unsuccessful attempts to leave the island via the map, the Professor 
realizes that the people who made this map read from right to left, and so in 
fact it is a map on how to get ON TO the island. They proved you simply can't 
reverse the directions to get the opposite result.
