Microsoft really doesn't like it when other people find better ways to run their products. Remember when Winframe came out and gained traction? Microsoft went nuts trying to get the toothpaste back in the tube on that one. Now the same thing is happening with virtual desktops. it's a better way to do things, but it's not their way of doing it. This single version of Vista for virtual desktops is just a modern version of the TS CAL. If successful, the business pc business will dry up and pc makers will have to rely on the home market for revenues. That's where Apple is busy kicking the crap out of everyone. So now Microsoft is losing money because it's not their solution AND all their OEM partners are screaming at them to make this virtual desktop nonsense go away so they can get businesses back onto a 3 year lifecycle replacement. Sure, all these people will make money on servers but the business pc market is their bread and butter. It may be low margin but it's high volume.
