I guess I will have to try filemon. I don't have a non-production server to test with, and on any given server, there could be 40 users running datatrac, so it's a lot to dig through in filemon. Does anyone know the process of how ctxhide runs a file? Does it do it from it's own shell of some kind? My guess is some kind of pathing problem is occuring, because datatrac.exe has to run the exe while inside r:\daratrac, you cannot be in say c:\windows and just have it launch by executing r:\datatrac\runtrac.exe -----Original Message----- From: thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Berny Stapleton Sent: Monday, January 09, 2006 2:49 AM To: thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [THIN] Re: Launching apps via .cmd files > Welp. When I run the .cmd published, the log file creates on the Citrix box, but it's empty. OK, that says to me that there was nothing returned to STDOUT or STDERR > When I run through ctxhide, the log file never creates. So, something with ctxhide is messing with the .cmd file from launching. Sounds to me like it is never executed, but that's just me. Can we confirm that datatrac.exe is actually executing when using ctxhide? Get filemon from the sysinternals site, run another ICA or an RDP connection to the server, run filemon and set it up to include datatrac.exe Run the published app using ctxhide.exe, see if datatrac.exe is actually accessed and run. You should see there some other stuff, namely other files in that directory that should be accessed when datatrac.exe is running. Otherwise, it isn't executing. -----Original Message----- From: thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Evan Mann Sent: 05 January 2006 17:08 To: thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [THIN] Re: Launching apps via .cmd files I put this in my .CMD. I ran the directly published .CMD and the one published through ctxhide and I can't find the .log in c:\temp locally on my machine or on the citrix server where the app is run from. -----Original Message----- From: thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Berny Stapleton Sent: Thursday, January 05, 2006 10:50 AM To: thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [THIN] Re: Launching apps via .cmd files Aaarrggghh... Put %errorlog% 2>&1 after your command. set outputdir=c:\temp set errorlog=%outputdir%\datatracerror.log datatrac.exe %errorlog% 2>&1 This will catch STDOUT and ERROROUT. So if datatrac is erroring with anything you can capture it into a log file and see what it's saying. I know the .cmd is fine. Something breaks when I publish it through ctxhide. I double-checked my spelling/syntax on the app published using ctxhide and it looks fine. I'm testing as myself, with full admin access to the Citrix servers, and the network share where this app runs from, and everything else. Using ctxhide doesn't mess with authentication does it? I'm not sure if it's relevant, but this particular network application must be launches from the start directory of r:\datatrac, or it will throw a "cannot find .ini" error. Which is why I have to go to r:, and cd datatrac in the .cmd file. -----Original Message----- From: thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Jim Kenzig http://ThinHelp.com Sent: Thursday, January 05, 2006 10:17 AM To: thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [THIN] Re: Launching apps via .cmd files Is it possible that the users need to authenticate to your share or are you allowing anonymous access(everyone) to it? I'm still having a problem getting the application to run. I simply did start d:\datatrac\runtrac.exe but nothing is running. I published the .cmd directly (not through ctxhide) with start in the .cmd file and the app launched OK. Something doesn't want to work when pushed through ctxhide.exe. I'm doing this via WI. I see the client connect, login scripts run, checking for newer client, then 1 think it flips through I can't read fast enough, and then I end up logged into the server, with no apps running. The only processes for my user running are ctfmon.exe, ************************************************ For Archives, RSS, to Unsubscribe, Subscribe or set Digest or Vacation mode use the below link: //www.freelists.org/list/thin ************************************************ ________________________________________________________________________ This e-mail has been scanned for all viruses by Star.
