I believe it would be similar to the WanScaler, one in the router at each
location.
Wanscaler would require a unit at each endpoint, each end of the communication.

I'm running 1841 routers; could I just plug in the WAAS into one of these
routers? Any idea on the cost?

I wrote a blog entry some time ago about this with some info.
) We are currently testing the Wanscaler and will be testing the Cisco WAAS
device next so I will be able to update you when I see it.
I can tell you that the WAAS device is just a card that plugs in your existing
router which is a little more compelling and takes up less rack space versus a
whole 1 or 2 U dell server space that the wanscaler takes up.

Sounds somewhat like Citrix WanScaler....
