Good point. But you Americans (and Europeans for that matter) are spoilt
with you're WAN infrastructure and costs. Because Australia is so big and
sparsely populated, bandwidth is still expensive, and sometimes the
infrastructure is so basic that you still need to deal with a piece of
string and two tin cans :) So for us the whole WAN Optimisation story is
very exciting.
Cheers.

Seriously I think the pricing is still waaaay too far out of reach for most
organizations. Seems to me that they make up an arbitrary price based on
the connection speed. It certainly isn't based on the hardware which is
simply a Dell server with a fabricated bezel with some beefed up memory and
their special nic card running a linux os. Even trying to amortize it over
a few years it seems to still be less expensive to just add another T1/T3
or whatever you need.

From a features point of view, the WANScaler is on par with the Cisco
product, only it has a much better roadmap and focus. The other advantage
Citrix will have is that they are also partnering with Microsoft to for a
"Branch Office" type offering, so their insight into CIFS, AD, Exchange,
etc, will only improve.
Chad, I would seriously get Citrix in to demonstrate the WANScaler. You
won't be disappointed.
Cheers.

I wrote a blog entry some time ago about this with some info. (
http://kenzig.blogspot.com/2006/09/on-citrix-wanscaler-and-waas-and-wah.html
) We are currently testing the Wanscaler and will be testing the Cisco
WAAS device next so I will be able to update you when I see it.
I can tell you that the WAAS device is just a card that plugs in your
existing router which is a little more compelling and takes up less rack
space versus a whole 1 or 2 U dell server space that the wanscaler takes
up.

Sounds somewhat like Citrix WanScaler….
