I am currently pulling my hair out over this one - I just can't see what
is causing me this problem.
I have a single 2003 member server acting as a terminal server for about
8 users. They can all use the terminal server without any problems and
access all of the applications. However, some of them are attempting to
print from Office XP to an HP LaserJet 2300 printer which is sitting on
the network.
Every other time the users log on and attempt to print to this device,
an error message appears saying :
Windows cannot print due to a problem with the current printer setup.
Try one or more of the following :
- check the printer by printing a test page from Windows
- make sure the printer is turned on and online
- reinstall the printer driver
Well, the printer is online and I can print a test page from Windows. I
have reinstalled the printer driver as well. The printer is configured
on a Microsoft SBS 2000 server and the users browse the network to
connect. The printers are configured locally and used as local devices.
I have tried configuring the printer within the terminal session and get
the same problem.
If I then log off and log back on as the user, it works fine again. Log
off once more and log on and I get the same error message. I can do
this for a very long time and it always alternates between logging on
and off. This is causing me no end of problems as I simply cannot
fathom out why it keeps doing this - can anyone help ?
The server has been rebooted numerous times after the installs and
uninstalls.
TIA
Eddie
