True, but a custom packaged ica32pkg.msi will run you 4+ megs on average per my experience. The web client alone is under 3 megs. Not sure how that may expand once converted to an MSI. If we assume (someone correct me if necessary) it stays around 3 megs, that 1 meg savings could be wortwhile to some people, especially in low bandwidth situations. For me personally, a 1-1.5 meg savings isn't necessary, so I'll use ica32pkg.msi, now that you reminded me about it, thanks! -----Original Message----- From: thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Joe Shonk Sent: Monday, June 12, 2006 9:40 AM To: thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [THIN] Re: Install Remotely ICA Client You don't need to a third-party packager to customize the ICA Client. You can simply customize the ica32pkg.msi by running: Msiexec.exe /a ica32pkg.msi And create a customized .msi file to distribute. It's all in the ICA Client Admin guide. I know someone doing this with success on the web client and I plan to try it out very soon as I'll need to deploy 9.2 -----Original Message----- From: thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Rick Mack Sent: Monday, June 12, 2006 5:04 AM To: thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: RE: [THIN] Install Remotely ICA Client Hi Anurag, You have a number of possibilities. The first is of course the Java ICA client, although you will have to have the appropriate version of the Java VM installed (sun JRE for the latest ICA client, Microsoft JVM for earlier (7.2+). Another possibility is using the Thinstall virtualized ICA client (www.thinstall.com) although for commercial use this costs $30 a seat. A third possibility is an unusual one. It occurred to me that while the ICA client technically needs admin rights to install, it's actually fairly well self-contained if we ignore things like the single-signon service. I tried just copying the ICA client folder into a folder in a test user's profile and then removing the ICA client completely from a system. Then logged on as the non-admin test user and ran PN from the %userprofile% folder. With the exception of having to tick the EULA agreement every time PN is run, the ICA client works fine. No single signon, but then it doesn't need an install either. So a zip archive with all the program files in it would do the trick. It's be worth finding out just what we can do without to make the client smaller yet. regards, Rick Ulrich Mack Volante Systems -----Original Message----- From: thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx on behalf of Anurag Goswami Sent: Mon 12/06/2006 16:11 To: thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [THIN] Install Remotely ICA Client Hi, Is anyone knows how to install Client Web Client remotely. My Users does not have rights to install any software and it is not possible to go to their desk and install Web Citrix client on their desktops everytime.
