Strange though- it says you have to own Windows Enterprise edition, but the
software works with all the other versions.....

Deployment

Funny you should ask about this, I have just been given the task of creating
an unattended install solution for our XP Farm. I just did a quick google
and discovered that Microsoft have released a product called "Automated
Deployment Services" (ADS) thats free to download and use, provided you have
Windows 2003 Enterprise Server. Theres always a catch!

ADS has some gr8 features like PXE Boot, Virtual Floppy, Image compression,
Image mounting (so you can mount the image as a file system and then edit
it), Command line and GUI tools and a WMI interface.

I haven't installed it yet and I'm still reading the doco. In time I will
evaluate it with several other products, including Altiris.

As ADS is so new I would be interested to know of other peoples experience
with the product.

You can find out more about ADS at
