[THIN] Re: IBM blades for Citrix vs. HP DL360?

Brian,

A lot of it comes down to rack space and costs of your data centre. The
management and deployment mechanism for both are very similar (whether you
use Blades or Pizza box servers) The performance of the IBM HS20 blades
(even with 2.5" IDE HDD's) was surprising, with the OS proving to be the
bottleneck. We did have a very high failure rate on HDD's as there was a
design fault whereby the oil in the disk spindle was leaking, but this has
since (so we were told) been rectified.

I was involved in developing the deployment mechanism, automated build and
implementation for 350+ IBM blade servers running Citrix for a large UK
insurance company, feel free to email me direct if you have any specific
questions and I will do help where I can.

Regards

Greg

Subject: [THIN] IBM blades for Citrix vs. HP DL360?

Anyone want to chime in with their 2 cents on the IBM blade vs the HP DL360?
We're currently using the DL360s but looking at the IBMs...just wondering if
anyone had any stories to tell.

Thanks!
