I had a similiar problem but it was being caused by the nic. Duplexing was not turned on and large excel files were causing big time hangs and delays. _____ From: thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Joe Shonk Sent: Fri, January 28, 2005 1:06 PM To: thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [THIN] Re: Hitting the 2gb app space limit? No... The /PAE switch is something different... This allows you to address space beyond 4 gigs... Also, your applications have to support the API extension.. The switch will also add additional overhead to the server. What Josh needs to evaluate is TScale or ArmTech. I have a 2003 server with XP FR3 with four gigs of ram, it has heavy Excel usage, but only about 12 users. The probIem is the excel.exe process tends to get up to 200 to 300 megs of ram, and as that gets to be per user, the box become unresponsive to new users or apps, until I kill a few of the Excel processes. It looks like I'm hitting the 2gb wall here, and the /3gb switch will not help if Excel dosen't utilize the extra 1 gig space. So I'm guessing there is no real resolution other then adding another server? Any thoughts? Thanks, Josh _____ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo!
