[THIN] Re: Hidecalc problems

Is this a brand new policy setting for this particular box or are you
attempting to update an existing hide drive value?

The only oddities that I've seen with HideCalc and ADMs / policy
imports is the case of up updating an existing ADM / policy value:

You define a new ADM with the hide values you want, and set the
policy. Lets say for example you only hide drive F:\.

You later have a need to change this setting from F:\ being hidden, to
G:\. So you create a new value which defines G:\ as hidden, F:\ as
allowed and import the new ADM to your policy. All will look good, but
you'll find F:\ is still hidden.

In this case you actually need to "unset" your original policy hidding
F:\ BEFORE you import another ADM with different / changed drive
hiding values.

It also never hurts to double check that the right hide drive number
is making it to your test user's registry. You can check the values of
a logged in user as an admin, going too:

Hkey_users\SID of connected
user\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\policies\explorer

2 possible values depending on your settings:

NoViewOnDrive

and

NoDrives

One of both of these should have the number value you've defined in
policy, if not there's something else going on.

Anyone have problems with Hidecalc not hiding drivers properly? I'm
trying to hide M: and B: and I create an ADM for it. I import the ADM
and everything looks good. In actuality, the B: drive is hidden but
the M: isn't. No other GPO's apply to this box and I'm completely
stumped.

Hopefully someone has an idea :(
