[THIN] Re: Here's a biggie. Why is thin computing the future.

Seems to me the solution would be fee for services, for everyone. One of
the problems in the US is the fact that people use the ER for primary
care. The proponents of a socialized system think they can reduce ER
visits if they give everyone primary care. Bunk. You are just going to
have lots of people wasting the time of the primary care physicians.

There is no fight to be had. Public access to health is a marvelous
goal, but one that has proven to be remarkably wasteful here in Canada.
Since there is no cost, there is no accountability from consumers. This
causes the burden on care that forces many including myself to seek care
that is more timely, even if payment is required.

What's the solution? Beats me but I think if people who clog emergency
rooms and doctor's office frivolous things were assessed a fee, then
maybe people would think twice before overburdening the system.

Note from my sig where I work. I have seen this first hand.

Hehe... we can take this offline if you want a fight about it. You
know, things like people waiting in lines to go to the hospital, the
fact that procedures common in the US can't be had in Canada due to the
cost restrictions, that sort of thing. Why are so many Canadians
crossing the border to get healthcare here? I'm really not trying to
start a fight about it, I was just joking with John because of his
(obviously stated) Labour views.
