Hi Michel,
If cmstart isn't running published apps won't start.
Check HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon for a value,
AppSetupwhich should read:
ctxhide.exe usrlogon.cmd, cmstart
It may be worth your while to enable Userint debugging, by setting
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon, Value
UserEnvDebugLevel to 0x30002 and checking the user env log under
%systemroot%\debug\usermode. The info you want is the libmain entries at the
end of the login process that tell you what apps have been initialised.
Try a simple published app like notepad.

Rick

Hi Rick,
Thanks for your response.
The image and new SID's creation looks good.
I'v forgotten to add that I use Acronic + sysprep.
Right ica-lister (tscc.msc) are correct.
Ctx_SMa is alive and kicking.
Applaucher is a great application but launching an application give the same
problem.
Any other ideas?
Regards,
Michel

Hi Michel,
One thing to watch when you clone a PS4 server, depending on the sid change
technology used, is that the DCOM and ICA listener ACLs for the ctx_smauser may
or may not be propagated properly.
What can happen is that the ACLs are stored as user SIDS in the registry, and
if the machine SID portion of the user SID doesn't get changed, the ACLs will
end up referring to unkwon users.
I'm not acquainted with Acronis so I can't advise you as to whether it did the
SID change properly or not. My suspicion is it didn't. Rn the terminal server
connection configuration utility (start > run > tscc.msc) and check on the
permissions of the ICA listener. If the ctx_smauser is there, Acronis did the
job properly, if it isn't then you'll see a user SID instead of a username and
you'll have to recreate the ctx_smauser entries for the Citrix print Manager
service.
Check the citrix knowledgebase article CTX106393 - How to Recreate the
Ctx_SmaUser Account <http://support.citrix.com/article/CTX106393> for details
on how to do this.
One big help in testing the application launch process is the EvokeIT
Applauncher
(http://www.envokeit.com/Downloads/Tools/EnvokeIT_PS_4_App_Launcher_Standard_Edition.zip)
<http://www.envokeit.com/Downloads/Tools/EnvokeIT_PS_4_App_Launcher_Standard_Edition.zip)%20which>
which let's you run any published apps in a defined environment.

Rick

Hi there,
Google and searching some citrix forums didn't help me so solve this strange
problem.
Situation:
Test environment PS4 (with all rollup packs and last hotfix installed) on W2K3
server (up to date).
3 servers cloned with Acronis, no strange error messages in eventvwr. Desktop
and 2 applications not load balanced published (notepad / Navision).
Using last citrix client 9.20. Policy's and flex framework installed and
configured (working fine).
Problem:
RDP works fine, Desktop via ICA works fine.
After starting a published application and the credentials are given in the
profile is loaded and scripts are running fine.
After 10 seconds I receive the message that the application failed to start.
After 30 seconds the log-off script are running and the cached profile is
delete.
I also read the citrix technotes about troubleshooting login problems
(ctx104708 / ctx 106250).
I'm (almost) sure that it has to do something with cmstart.exe or icast.exe
(see ctx106250 / point 6). Does anybody know how I can debug this part of the
login-proces?
The debug information of userint.exe looks good.
Thanks in advance!
Grtz,
Michel
