Thanks Dennis I will give this a go. -----Original Message----- From: Parker, Dennis [mailto:Dennis.Parker@xxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Tuesday, 10 February 2004 1:24 PM To: 'thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx' Subject: [THIN] Re: HP Printer preferences reset I have had this very problem as well. I believe it was on an HP 8100 (maybe an 8000, not 100% certain as that department has both models). There actually was a tech doc somewhere on HP's web site about it as well...Hey...I even still have the link in my email: http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/bizsupport/questionanswer.do?threa dId=37653 I didn't click it...hopefully it's still valid. But basically it said that you have to completely uninstall the printer, including all leftover registry entries and reinstall it. It worked for us in our situation for a short time, I think I also had to change drivers to the HP 5 PCL driver to completely fix it...now that I think back on the horror of it all. Hope this helps... But they are proving to be most unhelpful. I have a W2k Print Server and Metaframe XP on W2k Tse's. When users change the paper settings to landscape on their mapped printers, it allows the change but when they go review the change it is back to portrait. I have run Regmon whilst recreating this problem and the it updates the registry with the new settings but the last thing it does is delete the value it updated, hence negating the change. This problem only occurs when using the HP 5100 driver. I have tried both PCL and PS drivers and both have the same problem. Has anyone had this kind of problem with any other printers?
