This is exactly what they said 7-10 years ago and it still hasn't happened!!!
......lots of oohs and aahs but it involves changing the mentality of millions
of computer users...good luck with that.
Maybe some of you can't remember all the ASP's that have come and gone (and
most all are gone save a few) over the years but I can. Remember the
Futurelink Fiasco? The industry was booming in the 90's and then the bottom
fell out because no one could sell the model for an extended period of time.

I have to agree. Software over the Internet (ASP) will be big. The major draw
back is very few companies have gotten it right. Another huge factor is
software vendors don?t want to sale the software or even give you a copy. They
think that if you don?t have it you can?t pirate it.

Disagree. At my (SME) end of the business, people want to have the same
software on all machines with no big occasional upgrade costs. We rent Office
to lots of companies, and they love the fact that we do ? their only complaint
is that we can?t do it for Sage, Act, Goldmine, etc.
May be different at 00s or 000s of licences end of things, though.

OMG... didn't he learn from the miserable failure of the ASP industry that
tried to do this 7 years ago? There were about 7 companies out that tried to
"lease" Office..all gone today.
People want to own their software. (or at least a license to it.) Good luck
on changing that mentality.
