Yes, you can turn it off through GPO. I have it set to turn off when
users are plugged into our network. When they roam (with laptops) it
turns back on offering a layer of protection when using DSL or modem.

Is it possible to disable firewall on windows XP with SP2 through Group
policy? We want to deplyo SP2 on WindowsXP workstations without
firewall.
