It's apparently very possible with NT 4.0 TSE, and MS hints at it being
possible in Win2k, however, this requires some reg hacking.=20

Please review the following MS Q, for some hints on where to go with
this . . .note the paragraph at the bottem of the Q:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=3D3DKB;EN-US;Q257592&;

Currently, there is no way through the UI to change or edit the
user-specific file type associations stored in the
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Classes registry key. If you want to do this,
you have to directly edit the registry or develop your own UI to gain
access to this information. (You can also send an e-mail message to
mswish@xxxxxxxxxxxxx to request a release of such a tool. If enough
requests are received, a tool may be released in a future resource kit
or supplement.)

Subject: [THIN] Different file type association for users on the same
Server

Hi

is it possible to have different file type accociations for users on the
same computer - e.g. *.jpg files for user "A" start the normal Windows
"image viewer" and for user "B" on the same machine it starts another
image viewer application e.g. "Ifran viewer"????

Does anyone have some input on this or did I not search long enough in
the archives?

Thanks for your help

Peter
