Yes, I tried that, and it seems that moving document between the main server
and their local servers is frustrating to them, speed, and printing. The
"usual suspects". It always comes down to the users environment and
connectivity issues, etc. Everyone has different machines, connectivity,
etc. It is totally their environment that we often times cannot control at
all or resistance to change. I think your description of "users don't even
know they are running on a thin-client", is evident of what we need. It
comes down to that in many cases, but environment is something that the gap
is closing in on, as everyone is getting faster and faster internet
connections and the connections are getting better. At least in some
geographies.

First of all, you need to find out what the users resistance is and why
they want to use their desktop over TS. Using Citrix PS helps in the
regards that end users do not know that their app is not running from their
local desktop. We have clients who users dont even know they are running
on a thin-client.

We are using Terminal Server after we connect through a VPN connection. Is
that typical? I am asking as we have users who just refuse to use Terminal
Server and just want to use their own desktop with the VPN connected. It
drives us nuts as we push out applications through Terminal only and
intentionally avoid putting the apps on the machines, is that how it is
typically used? I struggle with the human side of getting people to want to
use it and I just wonder if it is me or just part of it. I think so much of
what we do is bring about the dirty "c" word, "change" and it creates
mini-wars. It gets old and I just want to be sure we are giving our people
"the best". I thought we were and that is why I am asking. I do not want
anyone to suffer, but to soar and have a user-friendly environment.

Citrix extends the functionality of terminal server in a big way. Terminal
Server is the base model and Citrix is the super charger, leather seats,
navigation system etc. You can run plain terminal services and be just
fine. But adding Citrix on top of it really makes the environment sing.

Everyone,
Crazy question: What is the difference between Citrix and Terminal Server? I
know this will make you all roll your eyes, but a down and dirty, nutshell
of it is all I need. If there is a difference any more? The reason I ask is
that we had Citrix years ago and went to Terminal Server. Now they seem to
be one in the same?
Thanks,
Linda
