BTW - I certainly agree with you on the built in TScals for both Win2k
Pro and XP pro based clients.=20

I have several clients who have all win2k pro or higher based
workstations, and they've never had to buy any TSCals for their user
base. They do still however have to have a TS license server running on
the domain in order for any TS connections to continue to take place.=20

Not so what? You're running an NT 4.0 domain w/ win2k TS servers that
have the TS license service. Ok . . so? How is that different from my
statement that within an NT 4.0 domain;

The limitation is that if your domain is win2k, the license service can
only run on DC's. So when / if you upgrade your current NT 4.0 domain to
win2k AD, you're going to have to move your TS license service to a DC.
If you're not running a Win2k domain, as long as the TS license service
is installed to a win2k server (as you've apparently done at your site).
. you'll be fine.

Not so.  I am running TS Licensing on all my W2K servers and none of
them
are domain controllers and all servers are in an NT4 domain.  The TS
License server came off of the W2K CD.  My servers are at SP2 (some at
SP3).

I know MS makes this claim and in fact, I ran into an error msg the
other
day that said the same thing.  My error turned out to be that I had no
IP
address.  As soon as I gave it one, the problem went away.

If the workstations are running W2K Pro, or higher, then they may be
getting around the license issue that way since they come with a built
in
CALs.

What type of domain are they Win2k? or NT 4.0?

Win2k, TS license service must be installed to a win2k DC. No way around
it.=3D3D20

NT 4.0, TS license service must be installed to any available win2k

Server with Metaframe 1.8 on top. They have (3) of these boxes and none
is a TS=3D3D20
licensing server. There is no license server defined. How are they able

still connect? I thought that you had 90 days and that was it. They've
been=3D3D20
running that way for 6 months.
