[THIN] Confused about TS License server

I know someone who works at a facility where they are running 2000 Terminal
Server with Metaframe 1.8 on top. They have (3) of these boxes and none is a TS
licensing server. There is no license server defined. How are they able to
still connect? I thought that you had 90 days and that was it. They've been
running that way for 6 months.
