I have just under 50 IBM servers in 3 offices that I am responsible for, and
there is nothing that could ever make me get rid of a one of them. The RSA
and RSAII adapters are the best, and the x330's and x335's have built in
KVMs, so you don't even have to buy anything to manage them! Very powerful
little 1U boxes. The x345's are a great 2U box, but unfortunately, no built
in KVM. But you get redundant fans, power supplies, etc etc, all the
standard stuff, plus the ASM processors in each box that integrate with the
RSA/II adapters for remote monitoring and management. Combine that with
Windows 2000/3, and you get a rock solid system that you can manage from
anywhere. In the two years these servers have been in production (Prior to
the xSeries, we used the Netfinity series), I've only had two failed hard
drives. Not bad. Configuration is a breeze, too, and you don't need any of
this custom HAL garbage either... :)

UGH!!!!!!!!!!!! Don't scare me like this! We are looking at IBM's to
refresh our entire infrastructure. All I've heard are nightmare stories
though (but I suppose after the messes I've been dealing with, it'll be
cake!:))
