Andrew,

Ive done extensive work in this area and have found Ghost not to be the best
because of its limited hardware support and capabilities, especially on some
RAID controllers.

Weve found the best product to bang out servers is Altiris deployment suite
(www.altiris.com). Its a real gem. It lets us schedule servers to have
images uploaded from them at any time and also allows for scheduled
re-images of servers. It supports Sysprep and has its own version of Sysprep
(Sidgen) which has a few extra features over sysprep.

Its entirely event driven and object oriented (ie, drag and drop). Its also
a tool which you can manage your entire enterprise from like also deploying
out workstation images, software inventory etc..

If you have servers that support PXE then it can make full use of this
technology and deploy/image servers without even visiting them.

If you have Compaq hardware it has features that support the Compaq smart
start stuff as well.

Its also very cheap, not much more expensive as compare to Ghost. a 30day
trial is downloadable from their web site.

I would like to know what the process everyone is going thru to set up
servers (ie. ghosting, cloning). If you are using symantec ghost how do you
handle loading the scsi driver on on the boot disk? Thanks, Andrew
